Removal and Installation

WARNING: Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the throttle body (TB). For additional information, refer to THROTTLE BODY .
  3. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  4. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  5. Disconnect the intake manifold-to-throttle body spacer vacuum hose.
  6. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  7. Remove the 5 TB spacer bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  8. Remove the TB spacer and gasket.
    • Discard the TB spacer gasket.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new gasket on the throttle body spacer.
