Pinpoint Test L: Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor: Introduction: Detection/Management
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2006 Ford RV Cutaway, 2006 Ford Pickup, 2006 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2006 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2006 Ford Econoline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
An EOT sensor signal that is detected out of range (high or low) by the PCM causes the PCM to ignore the EOT sensor signal and assume an engine oil temperature of -20°C (-4°F) for starting and a temperature of 100°C (212°F) for engine-running conditions. The CHECK ENGINE lamp remains illuminated as long as the fault condition exists.
