Test J: Low Washer Fluid Indicator Is Never/Always On

- If B1454 is retrieved, go to step 3. If B1456 is retrieved, go to step 4. If no DTCs were retrieved and you repairing by symptom, go to next step.
- Disconnect GEM harness connector C201b. Connect a fused jumper wire (10-amp) between harness connector C201b terminal No. 14 (Pink/Yellow wire) and ground. See Fig 1. If low washer fluid indicator illuminates, go WIPER WASHER SYSTEM - BLACKWOOD article. If low washer fluid indicator does not illuminate, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220b and GEM harness connector C201b. Measure resistance between harness connector 201b terminal No. 14 and harness connector C220b terminal No. 220b terminal No. 7 (both Pink/Yellow wire). See Figure. Also measure resistance between harness connector C201b terminal No. 14 and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between GEM and instrument cluster and greater than 10k/ohms to ground, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms between GEM and instrument cluster and not greater than 10k/ohms to ground, repair open or short to ground in Pink/Yellow wire and test system operation.
- Measure resistance between GEM harness connector C201b terminal No. 14 (Pink/Yellow wire) and ground. If any voltage is present, repair short to power in Pink/Yellow wire and test system operation. If no voltage is present, go to step 6.
- Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
- Disconnect all GEM harness connectors. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all GEM harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace GEM. See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
