Test A: No Communication With Hybrid Electronic Cluster
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
After repair, clear DTCs and perform self-test.
NOTE:
Hybrid electronic cluster may also be referred to as instrument cluster
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 20-pin harness connector C220a. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 10 (Red/White wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220a terminal No. 11 (Gray/Yellow wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Gray/Yellow wire between central junction box and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220a terminal No. 2 (Red/Light Green wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Light Green wire between central junction box and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance in Black wire between instrument cluster 20-pin harness connector C220a terminal No. 1 and ground. See Fig 1. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black ground wire between instrument cluster and ground. Ground point is located behind right kick panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect instrument cluster 22-pin harness connector C220b. Measure resistance in Pink/Orange wire between instrument cluster 22-pin harness connector C220b terminal No. 17 and ground. See Fig 2. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, diagnose communications network. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT RESPOND TO NGS TESTER in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - BLACKWOOD article. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Pink/Orange wire between instrument cluster and ground. Ground point is located behind left kick panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
