Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes: Notes

Instrument cluster is a Hybrid Electronic Cluster (HEC). HEC has self-diagnostic system which may store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). HEC communicates with Generic Electronic Module (GEM). GEM has self-diagnostic capabilities. DTCs stored in HEC and GEM may be obtained with New Generation Star (NGS) tester. See Using Scan Tool .
