Analog instrument cluster is equipped with speedometer, tachometer, fuel, oil pressure, temperature and voltage gauges. Instrument cluster is Hybrid Electronic Cluster (HEC) with self-diagnostic capability. The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) controls safety belt chime, headlamp, key-in-ignition, low washer fluid, and door ajar warnings. GEM module has self-diagnostic capabilities.
Speedometer, odometer, engine coolant temperature, and service engine soon input signals are sent from Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to HEC over standard corporate protocol communication network buses. SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator will illuminate when PCM has set a diagnostic trouble code.
