Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Partially drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
- Remove the 7 bolts and the strut tower support brace.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Remove the 2 degas bottle bolts.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Disconnect the degas return hose from the degas return tube.
- Position the degas bottle aside.
- Remove the 5 bolts and the mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
- Position the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly aside, and loosen the upper windshield wiper motor bolt.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
The windshield wiper system has an auto park feature. It is necessary to disconnect the battery.
NOTE:
When positioning the degas bottle aside, it is necessary to reroute the degas bottle lower hose in front of the brake booster.
