Removal and Installation

    CAUTION: The windshield wiper system has an auto park feature. It is necessary to disconnect the battery.
  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Partially drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  3. Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  4. Remove the 7 bolts and the strut tower support brace.
    • To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  5. Remove the 2 degas bottle bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  6. Disconnect the degas return hose from the degas return tube.

  7. NOTE: When positioning the degas bottle aside, it is necessary to reroute the degas bottle lower hose in front of the brake booster.
  8. Position the degas bottle aside.
  9. Remove the 5 bolts and the mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  10. Position the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly aside, and loosen the upper windshield wiper motor bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly.
  12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
