Pinpoint Test C: A Single Power Window Is Inoperative - RH Front
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- C1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE WINDOW MOTOR NOTE: The RH front window motor is not on the multiplex link. NOTE: A new RH front window motor is in the proportional up/down mode until initialized. Refer to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION in this article.NOTE: The RH front window motor must be initialized whenever the following occurs: the motor is removed from the window regulator, a new window motor is installed, a new window regulator is installed, a new window glass is installed, a new top run is installed and any operation in which grease or lubricants are applied to the window system.
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Motor C608.
- Measure the voltage between the RH front window motor C608-7, circuit 30-AJ71 (RD/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to C2.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C2 CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR DELAYED ACCESSORY VOLTAGE
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the RH front window motor C608-2, circuit 10-AJ43A (GY/VT), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to C3.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C3 CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the RH front window motor C608-8, circuit 31-AJ71 (BK/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C4.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C4 CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Control Switch C604.
- Key in ON position.
- Connect a fused (5A) jumper wire between the RH front window control switch C604-1, circuit 7S-AJ47B (YE/BK), harness side and the RH front window control switch C604-5, circuit 7-AJ18 (YE/VT), harness side. The window should operate in the UP direction.
- Connect a fused (5A) jumper wire between the RH front window control switch C604-6, circuit 7S-AJ48B (YE/VT), harness side and the RH front window control switch C604-5, circuit 7-AJ18 (YE/VT), harness side. The window should operate in the DOWN direction.
- Does the window operate correctly?
- Yes : INSTALL a new RH front window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C5
- C5 CHECK CIRCUITS 7S-AJ47B (YE/BK), 8-AJ56B (WH/GN) AND 7S-AJ48B (YE/VT) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Motor C608.
- Measure the resistance between the RH front window control switch C604-1, circuit 7S-AJ47B (YE/BK), harness side and the RH front window motor C608-3, circuit 7S-AJ47A (YE/BK), harness side; and between the RH front window control switch C604-4, circuit 8-AJ56B (WH/GN) harness side and the RH front window motor C608-1, circuit 8-AJ56 (WH/GN), harness side; and between the RH front window control switch C604-6, circuit 7S-AJ48B (YE/VT), harness side and the RH front window motor C608-4, circuit 7S-AJ48A (YE/VT), harness side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new RH front window motor. REFER to FRONT DOOR WINDOW GLASS in this article. INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s) as necessary. INITIALIZE the RH front window motor. Refer to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
