Test Q: Ck SUSP Indicator Inoperative Or Always On

NOTE:
After making any repairs, clear DTCs and perform self-test.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If CK SUSP indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If CK SUSP indicator is always on, diagnose and repair rear air suspension as necessary. See ELECTRONIC - EXPEDITION & NAVIGATOR article in SUSPENSION.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect air suspension control module harness connector C296. Air suspension control module is located behind right side of instrument cluster panel. Connect fused jumper wire (5-amp) between ground and air suspension control module harness connector C296 terminal No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If CK SUSP indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If CK SUSP indicator illuminates, go to step 4.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 20-pin harness connector C238. Measure resistance in Dark Green/Light Green wire between air suspension control module harness connector C296 terminal No. 12 and instrument cluster harness connector C238 terminal No. 5. See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Green/Light Green wire between instrument cluster and air suspension control module.
- Disconnect all Generic Electronic Module GEM harness connectors. GEM is located on back side of central junction box, under left side of instrument panel. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all GEM harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace GEM. See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
- Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
