Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The transceiver module communicates with the passive anti-theft system (PATS) key. The control functions are contained in the instrument cluster. This instrument cluster carries out all of the PATS functions such as receiving the identification code from the pats key and controlling engine enable. The instrument cluster initiates the key interrogation sequence when the key is inserted in the ignition switch and when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN or START position.
