Pinpoint Test G: The Power Supply Relay Is Inoperative - Switched System Power (SSP) 1

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The ignition switch must be cycled from OFF to ON to enable the SSP feature.
NOTE: Refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING  and the Switched System Power (SSP) Relay Index  for complete details of SSP1 powered features.
  1. G1 CHECK THE BATTERY JUNCTION BOX (BJB)
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SSP1 Relay C441.
    • Measure the voltage between SSP1 relay C441-86, circuit 30-DG51 (RD/YE), harness side and ground; and between SSP1 relay C441-30, circuit 30-DG52 (RD/BU), harness side and ground.

    • Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
    • Yes  : GO to  G2.
    • No  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new BJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. G2 CHECK CIRCUIT 31S-DG51 (BK/YE) FOR AN OPEN
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the resistance between SSP1 relay C441-85, circuit 31S-DG51 (BK/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    • Yes  : GO to  G3.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. G3 CHECK THE SSP1 RELAY
    • Carry out the SSP1 relay component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for component testing.
    • Is the SSP1 relay OK?
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 30-DD3 (RD/OG).
    • No  : INSTALL a new SSP1 relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
