Normal Operation

The instrument cluster monitors the headlamp switch position by sending out voltage reference signals to the headlamp switch. If a problem is detected with the low beam signal circuit (8-LE21 [GY/OG]), the headlamps off signal circuit (10-LE21 [GY/OG]) or the signal return circuit (9-LE29 [BN/GN]) from the headlamp switch, the instrument cluster will default the headlamps and parking lamps ON. When the headlamp switch is in the headlamps ON position, the instrument cluster sends a signal to the front electronic module (FEM) to illuminate the headlamps.
