Pinpoint Test C: The Parking Aid Is Inoperative - Disable Indicator Is Always On/Never On

- C1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED PARKING AID MODULE DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS
- Check for recorded parking aid module DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
- Are any parking aid module DTCs recorded?
- Yes : REFER to the PARKING AID MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX for correct diagnosis.
- No : GO to C2.
- C2 CHECK THE PARKING AID INDICATOR OPERATION
- Key in ON position.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Select REVERSE.
- Monitor the parking aid disabled indicator while pressing the parking aid switch.
- Press the parking aid switch to disable the parking aid system.
- Press the parking aid switch to enable the parking aid system.
- Is the indicator on after pressing the switch to disable the system, and off after pressing the switch to enable the system?
- Yes : The system is operating correctly at this time.
- No : PLACE the transmission in PARK. GO to C3.
- C3 CHECK CIRCUIT 7-GN23 (YE/BK) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Parking Aid Switch C9011.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the parking aid switch C9011-1, circuit 7-GN23 (YE/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- C4 CHECK CIRCUIT 7-GN23 (YE/BK) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE IN THE MODULE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Parking Aid Module C4014b.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the parking aid switch C9011-1, circuit 7-GN23 (YE/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C11.
- C5 CHECK CIRCUIT 7-GN23 (YE/BK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the parking aid switch C9011-1, circuit 7-GN23 (YE/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- C6 CHECK CIRCUIT 7-GN23 (YE/BK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE MODULE
- Disconnect: Parking Aid Module C4014b.
- Measure the resistance between the parking aid switch C9011-1, circuit 7-GN23 (YE/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C11.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C7 CHECK CIRCUIT 31-GN12 (BK/OG) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the parking aid switch C9011-3, circuit 31-GN12 (BK/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C8.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C8 CHECK CIRCUIT 8-GN12 (WH/BU) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Parking Aid Module C4014b.
- Measure the resistance between the parking aid switch C9011-4, circuit 8-GN12 (WH/BU), harness side and the parking aid module C4014b-9, circuit 8-GN12 (WH/BU), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C9.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C9 CHECK CIRCUIT 7-GN23 (YE/BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Parking Aid Module C4014b.
- Measure the resistance between the parking aid switch C9011-1, circuit 7-GN23 (YE/BK), harness side and the parking aid module C4014b-10, circuit 7-GN23 (YE/BK), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C9.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C10 CHECK THE PARKING AID SWITCH
- Measure the resistance between the parking aid switch C9011 pin 1, component side and C9011 pin 3, component side.
- Is the resistance less than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C11.
- No : INSTALL a new parking aid switch. REFER to PARKING AID SWITCH in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C11 CHECK FOR CORRECT PARKING AID MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all the parking aid module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the parking aid module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new parking aid module. REFER to PARKING AID MODULE in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
