Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Drain the fuel tank. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT .
- Remove the 2 pin-type retainers and the bolt and position aside the fuel tube shield.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Disconnect the vapor tube and the fuel supply tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Disconnect the fuel filler pipe hose from the fuel tank.
- Position a suitable lifting device to support the fuel tank.
- Remove the 2 fuel tank strap mounting bolts and position aside the 2 fuel tank straps.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the fuel tank electrical connector.
- Partially lower the fuel tank and disconnect the vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Remove the fuel tank.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Turn the ignition key to the ON position to pressurize the fuel system.
- Visually inspect the fuel system for leaks.
