Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Release the fuel system pressure. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the left front wheel well rear splash shield.
- Remove the engine appearance cover and the noise suppressor (if detached).
- Disconnect the fuel hose safety clip and spring lock coupling from the fuel rail. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Disconnect the 2 vapor tube quick connect couplings from the evaporative canister purge valve. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Remove the 2 fuel tube mounting bolts.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Disconnect the vapor tube quick connect couplings from the fuel vapor tube. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Disconnect the fuel tube quick connect and spring lock couplings from both sides of the fuel filter. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Remove the fuel filter bracket mounting bolt, fuel filter bracket and the fuel filter.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- Remove the 2 fuel tube shield mounting bolts.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Remove the fuel tube shield pin- type retainer.
- Remove the 3 fuel tube shield nuts and the fuel tube shield.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Disconnect the fuel tube quick connect coupling from the fuel tank supply tube. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Disconnect the vapor tube quick connect couplings from the fuel vapor control tube assembly valve. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Remove the 4 fuel tube mounting bolts and the fuel tube assembly.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
The engine appearance cover is equipped with a noise suppressor. If the noise suppressor becomes separated from the engine appearance cover it must be positioned on the intake manifold prior to installing the engine appearance cover.
