Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Place the range selector lever in the D5 position.
  3. Remove the center console. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  4. Remove the handle and cover.
    1. Slide the cover down.
    2. Remove the two screws.
    3. Remove the handle and the cover.

  5. Move the shifter bezel aside.

  6. Remove the PRNDL indicator bulb from the electrical connector.

  7. Disconnect the cable from the lever.
    1. Remove the shift interlock cable from the bracket.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the lever.

  8. Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the shifter assembly.

  9. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the shifter assembly.

  10. Remove the 4 screws from the shift lever assembly base.
    • To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

  11. NOTE: A selector lever cable adjustment must be carried out after installation. For additional information, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT  in this article.
  12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
