Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING  .
  2. Remove the thermostat housing. For additional information, refer to THERMOSTAT HOUSING - 3.9L  .
  3. Loosen the coolant pump pulley bolts.
    • Do not remove at this time.
  4. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  5. Remove the 3 bolts and the coolant pump pulley.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in), then rotate an additional 45 degrees.
  6. Remove the 5 bolts and the coolant pump.
    • Remove and discard the coolant pump gasket.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in), then rotate an additional 90 degrees.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new coolant pump gasket.
  8. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING  .
