Valve Spring, Retainer and Seal: Installation

    NOTE: Lubricate the valve stem seal with clean engine oil.

  1. Install the valve stem seal.
  2. Install the valve spring and retainer.
  3. Using the special tool, compress the valve spring and install the retainer keys.

  4. Release the compressed air used to hold the valves closed.
  5. Install the spark plug for the cylinder being serviced. Do not tighten at this time.
  6. Repeat the appropriate removal and installation steps for all of the other cylinders.
  7. Tighten the spark plug(s) to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
