Oil Pump: Removal

CAUTION:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the oil pump screen and pickup tube. For additional information, refer to ENGINE LUBRICATION COMPONENTS - EXPLODED VIEW, OIL PAN, OIL PUMP, OIL PUMP SCREEN AND PICKUP TUBE and Oil Pump Screen and Pickup Tube in this article.
- Remove the timing drive components. For additional information, refer to TIMING DRIVE COMPONENTS in this article .
- Remove the bolts and the oil pump.
