Oil Pan: Installation

    CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leaks paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of sealant.
  1. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces.
  2. NOTE: Make sure all gasket sealing surfaces are clean and dry.

  3. Install a new oil pan gasket, oil pan and 17 bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in 2 stages.
      • Stage 1: Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
      • Stage 2: Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  4. NOTE: Lubricate the oil filter gasket with clean engine oil.
  5. Install a new oil filter until the gasket seal makes contact.
    • Tighten the oil filter an additional 270 degrees.
  6. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
