Valve Cover - LH: Installation

- Clean the valve cover, cylinder head and front cover sealing surfaces with silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Inspect and install a new gasket as necessary.
- Apply an 8-mm (0.32-in) bead of silicone gasket sealant to the cylinder head half-round surface and to the front cover-to-cylinder head joint face.
- Position the LH valve cover and install the 12 stud bolts.
- Tighten in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Position the 2 engine appearance cover brackets and install the 4 nuts.
- Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- Install a new CHT sensor.
- Tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb-ft).
- Position the wiring harness conduit and install the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- Attach the 4 wiring retainers to the valve cover and the valve cover stud bolts.
- Connect the VCT solenoid electrical connector.
- Position the hoses and attach the hose retainer to the engine appearance cover bracket.
- Connect the CHT sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the PCV tube to the PCV valve.
- Install the LH ignition coil-on-plugs. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 3.0L (4V) .
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .

NOTE:
The valve cover must be installed and the bolts and stud bolts tightened within 4 minutes of sealant application.
