Adjustable Pedal Indexing

CAUTION: The adjustable pedal system must be indexed whenever the brake pedal assembly or accelerator pedal assembly is serviced.
  1. Make sure the electrical connector is connected to the adjustable pedal motor.
  2. NOTE: A new adjustable brake pedal or adjustable accelerator pedal assembly will be in the full forward (towards the front of the vehicle) position.
  3. Operate the adjustable pedal to the full forward position. If the adjustable accelerator pedal bottoms before the adjustable brake pedal, operate both adjustable pedals full rearward.
  4. Remove the tie-strap, if necessary, and disconnect the drive cable assembly from the adjustable brake pedal drive. Continue to operate the adjustable accelerator pedal to the full rearward position.

  5. Connect the drive cable assembly to the adjustable brake pedal drive.

  6. Operate both the adjustable pedals to the full forward position.
  7. If the adjustable brake pedal bottoms before the adjustable accelerator pedal, remove the tie-strap, if necessary, and disconnect the adjustable brake pedal drive cable.

  8. Operate the accelerator pedal to the full forward position.

  9. Connect the drive cable assembly to the adjustable brake pedal drive.

  10. Operate both the adjustable pedals to the full forward position.
  11. Check that the adjustable brake pedal and adjustable accelerator pedal can be adjusted fully forward, fully rearward, and they hit the forward and rearward stops at the same time.
