Pinpoint Test J: C1989: PARK BRAKE APPLY AND RELEASE SWITCH CONTACTS ENERGIZED SIMULTANEOUSLY

- J1 CHECK FOR ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) PIDs
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Using the diagnostic tool, monitor the EPB PIDs when the EPB switch is in its apply, neutral, and release positions.
- Do the EPB PIDs match the EPB switch positions
- Yes : GO to J2.
- No : INSTALL a new EPB switch. REFER to PARKING BRAKE SWITCH in this article . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING in this article .
- J2 CHECK THE EPB CIRCUITS FOR SHORTED TOGETHER
- Disconnect the battery. Refer to CHARGING SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Disconnect: EPB Module C4205b.
- Disconnect: EPB Switch C3218.
- Disconnect: EPB Actuator C4206.
- Check the following EPB module C4205b circuits for a short together as follows:EPB MODULE C4205B CIRCUITS SPECIFICATIONS
Circuit EPB Actuator Pin EPB Module Pin 9-CG20 (BN/WH) EPB actuator and EPB switch ground 12 10-CG15 (GY/VT) EPB release 6 8-CG15 (WH/BU) EPB apply 5 - Are any of the resistances less than 10,000 ohms
- Yes : INSTALL a new EPB module. REFER to PARKING BRAKE MODULE in this article . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING in this article .
- No : REPAIR the affected circuits. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING in this article .
