Pinpoint Test G: DTC C1799: ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) HALL CIRCUIT EFFECT FAILURE

CAUTION:
Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
- G1 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: EPB Module C4205b.
- Disconnect: EPB Actuator C4206.
- Measure the voltage between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and ground as follows:EPB CIRCUIT & PIN VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS
Circuit Pin Function 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 Hall-effect voltage 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 Hall-effect signal 9-CG20 (BN/WH) 5 Hall-effect ground - Is any voltage present
- Yes : REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING in this article .
- No : GO to G2.
- G2 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and ground as follows:EPB CIRCUIT & PIN RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS - SHORT TO GROUND
Circuit Pin Function 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 Hall-effect voltage 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 Hall-effect signal - Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms
- Yes : GO to G3.
- No : REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING in this article .
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and ground as follows:
- G3 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and the EPB module C4205b circuits, harness side as follows:EPB CIRCUIT & PIN RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS - OPEN CIRCUIT
Circuit EPB Actuator Pin EPB Module Pin 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 10 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 4 9-CG20 (BN/WH) 5 12 - Is the resistance less than 5 ohms
- Yes : GO to G4.
- No : REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING in this article .
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and the EPB module C4205b circuits, harness side as follows:
- G4 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE WITH THE EBP ACTUATOR CONNECTED
- Connect: EPB Actuator C4206.
- Measure the voltage between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and ground as follows:EPB CIRCUIT & PIN VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS
Circuit EPB Actuator Pin EPB Module Pin 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 Hall-effect voltage 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 Hall-effect signal 9-CG20 (BN/WH) 5 Hall-effect ground - Is any voltage present
- Yes : INSTALL a new EPB actuator. REFER to PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR in this article . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING in this article .
- No : GO to G5.
- G5 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND WITH THE EBP ACTUATOR CONNECTED
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and ground as follows:EPB CIRCUIT & PIN RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS - SHORT TO GROUND
Circuit EPB Actuator Pin EPB Module Pin 7-CG20 (YE/VT) 3 Hall-effect voltage 8-CG20 (WH/VT) 4 Hall-effect signal - Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms
- Yes : GO to G6.
- No : INSTALL a new EPB actuator. REFER to PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR in this article . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. RESET the EPB system. REFER to ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) RESETTING in this article .
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and ground as follows:
- G6 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN WITH THE EBP ACTUATOR CONNECTED
- Measure the resistance between the EPB actuator C4206 circuits, harness side and the EPB module C4205b circuits, harness side as follows:EPB CIRCUIT & PIN RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS - OPEN CIRCUIT
