Pinpoint Test C: DTC C1769/C1783: PARK BRAKE APPLY/RELEASE SWITCH SHORT TO GROUND

CAUTION: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
  1. C1 RETRIEVE THE DTCs 
    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Retrieve the DTC(s).
    • Is DTC C1769 retrieved 
    • Yes  : GO to  C2.
    • No  : If DTC C1783 is retrieved, GO to  C3.
  2. C2 CHECK CIRCUIT 8-CG15 (WH/BU) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect the battery. Refer to CHARGING SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
    • Disconnect: EPB Switch C3218.
    • Measure the resistance between the electronic parking brake (EPB) switch C3218-8, circuit 8-CG15 (WH/BU), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms 
  3. C3 CHECK CIRCUIT 10-CG15 (GY/VT) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the EPB switch C3218-4, circuit 10-CG15 (GY/VT), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms 
  4. C4 CHECK THE EPB SWITCH PIDs 
    • Using the diagnostic tool, monitor the EPB apply, neutral, and release PIDs while operating the EPB switch.
    • Do the EPB PIDs match the EPB switch positions
