Pinpoint Test D: Transmission Control Indicator Lamp (TCIL) Does Not Illuminate

- D1 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL INDICATOR LAMP (TCIL) CIRCUIT 915 FOR VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage at pin 4 and ground
- Is the voltage reading greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : INSTALL a new PCM. CYCLE the transmission control switch (TCS) to check the operation of the TCIL. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : CHECK the indicator bulb and the fuse. If OK, GO to D2.
- D2 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL INDICATOR LAMP (TCIL) CIRCUIT 729 FOR VOLTAGE
- Disconnect the instrument cluster.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage at pin 17 and ground
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts
- Yes : INSTALL a new PCM. CYCLE the transmission control switch (TCS) to check the operation of the TCIL. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
