Removal (Explorer)

NOTE: Two bolts should be loosened but left in to prevent the flywheel from falling.

Remove the transmission. See TRANSMISSION . Remove the clutch plate and disc. See CLUTCH ASSEMBLY . Remove 6 of the 8 bolts. Loosen the 2 remaining bolts, but leave in place. Install 2 bolts in the threaded holes in the flywheel and remove flywheel. See Fig 1. Remove the remaining bolts in the crankshaft and remove the flywheel.
