Ignition Switch Mechanical Check

Test the mechanical operation of the ignition switch by rotating the lock cylinder through all the switch positions. The switch should not stick or bind and should return from the START position to the ON position without assistance (spring return). If sticking or binding is encountered, check for the following:

If the steering wheel lock is engaged with the wheels loaded against a curb, high effort will be necessary to turn the key from LOCK. Turn the steering wheel to either side of the lock to unload the system.
