Pinpoint Test M: The STOPLAMPS Are On Continuously

  1. M1 CHECK THE STOPLAMP SWITCH 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Stoplamp Switch C278.
    • Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? 
    • Yes  : GO to M2.
    • No  : INSTALL a new stoplamp switch. REFER to STOPLAMP SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. M2 CHECK CIRCUITS 511 (LG) AND 569 (DG) FOR SHORT TO POWER 
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202b.
    • Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? 
    • Yes  : For the high mounted stoplamp, REPAIR circuit 511 (LG) or 569 (DG) as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.

      For rear stoplamp, REPAIR circuit 374 (DB/WH) (LH stoplamp) or 378 (BN/YE) (RH stoplamp) as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.

    • No  : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
