Removal and Installation

- Release the tension on the parking brake cable. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE CABLE TENSION RELEASE .
- Remove the screws and the instrument panel steering column cover.
- Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Loosen the bolt and disconnect the bulkhead connector.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Release the parking brake release handle grommet from the bracket.
- Disconnect the parking brake switch electrical connector.
- Remove the wiring harness bracket screw and position the harness and bracket aside.
- Remove the 3 bolts from the parking brake control.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Position the carpet aside and position the cable conduit grommet up through the floor.
- Remove the parking brake control from the vehicle.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Test the parking brake system for correct operation.
