Pinpoint Test K: DTC C1288 And C1440 (Abs With Stability Assist) - Brake Pressure Transducer Input Circuit Failure

CAUTION: Use the flex probe kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
  1. K1 CHECK FOR DTCS 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Check the recorded results from the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module self-test
    • Is DTC C1287, C1483, B2734, B2736, B2737, B2738, or B2740 present? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR these DTCs first. REFER to the appropriate pinpoint test for each DTC retrieved.
    • No  : GO to K2.
  2. K2 CHECK THE PRIMARY BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: ABS Module C155.
    • Disconnect: Primary Brake Pressure Transducer C147.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the primary brake pressure transducer connector, harness side and ground as follows:
      PRIMARY BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER CONNECTOR AND CIRCUIT

    • Is any voltage present? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    • No  : GO to K3.
  3. K3 CHECK THE PRIMARY BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between the primary brake pressure transducer connector, harness side and ground as follows:

    • Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to K4.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. K4 CHECK THE PRIMARY BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT 
    • Measure the resistance between the primary brake pressure transducer connector pins, harness side as follows:
      PRIMARY BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER CONNECTOR AND CIRCUIT

    • Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to K5.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. K5 CHECK THE PRIMARY BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER CIRCUITRY FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the ABS module connector, harness side and the primary brake pressure transducer connector, harness side as follows:
      ABS MODULE AND PRIMARY BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER CONNECTOR AND CIRCUIT

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to K6.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  6. K6 CHECK THE ABS MODULE OUTPUT 
    • Connect: ABS Module C155.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the primary brake pressure transducer C147-3, circuit 3601 (WH/RD), harness side and the primary brake pressure transducer C147-1, circuit 3603 (RD), harness side.

    • Is the voltage approximately 5 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to K7.
    • No  : GO to  K8.
  7. K7 CHECK THE PRIMARY BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER OUTPUT 
    • Connect: Primary Brake Pressure Transducer C147.
    • Disconnect: ABS Module C155.
    • Remove pin 20, circuit 3600 (RD/WH), from the ABS module connector.
    • Connect: ABS Module C155.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the ABS module C155-20, circuit 3600 (RD/WH), harness side and ground while pressing and releasing the brake pedal.
    • Is the voltage between 0.35 and 0.65 volt with the brake pedal released and between 0.65 and 4.5 volts with the brake pedal pressed? 
    • Yes  : GO to K8.
    • No  : INSTALL a new primary brake pressure transducer. REFER to HYDRAULIC BRAKE ACTUATION . CLEAR the DTCs. CALIBRATE the ABS module. REPEAT the self-test.
  8. K8 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the ABS connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the ABS connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
