Removal and Installation

- Place the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- Loosen the steering wheel bolt.
- Using the special tool, separate the steering wheel from the steering column.
- Remove and discard the steering wheel bolt.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Remove the steering wheel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
Removing the steering wheel without using a puller can damage the column bearings.
NOTE:
A new bolt must be installed.
