Power Steering Pump to Steering Gear Pressure Line: Installation

All vehicles

Using the special tool, install a new Teflon® seal on the pressure line fitting.

Install the pressure line and connect the pressure line-to-pump fitting.
- Tighten to 65 Nm (48 lb-ft).

Vehicles with 4.0L engines

Install the power steering pump pulley. For additional information, refer to POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY - 4.0L ENGINE .
All vehicles
Install the pressure line bracket-to-engine nut (4.6L) or bolt (4.0L).
- Tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).

NOTE: New O-rings must be installed whenever the power steering lines are disconnected.

Position the pressure line to the steering gear.
- Install a new O-ring.
Install the pressure line-to-crossmember retainer bracket bolt.
- Tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
Position the power steering gear-to-fluid cooler return hose to the steering gear and rotate the steering line clamp plate into position.
- Install a new O-ring.
Install the steering line clamp plate nut.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
