Removal and Installation

CAUTION:
While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove the engine air cleaner. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING .
- Using a suitable suction device, drain the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Remove the pressure line bracket-to-engine nut.
- Rotate the tensioner and remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.
- Disconnect the reservoir-to-pump hose clamp and remove the hose.
- Disconnect the pressure line-to-pump fitting.
- Remove and discard the Teflon® seal.
- Remove the 2 engine bracket and cable nuts and position the wiring harness aside.
- Remove the 3 bolts and the power steering pump.
NOTE:
A new Teflon® seal must be installed.
