Removal and Installation

- Remove the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWER .
- Use compressed air in the cylinder to hold both valves in position.
- Install the special tool.
- Using the special tool, remove the valve spring retainer keys.
- Remove the retainers and the valve springs.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
If air pressure has forced the piston to the bottom of the cylinder, any loss of air pressure will allow the valve to fall into the cylinder. If air pressure must be removed, support the valve prior to removal.
NOTE:
Position the piston of the cylinder being serviced at the top of the stroke.
NOTE:
The 3 rearmost valves on the RH side must use special tool 303-567 in the same manner as is shown in Fig 3.
NOTE:
Lubricate the components with clean engine oil.
