Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.
    • To install, tighten to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft).
  3. Remove the bolts, the oil pan and the gasket. Discard the gasket.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  4. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.
  5. Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  7. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
