Cylinder Head: Disassembly

- Remove the spark plugs.
- Rotate the camshaft until the lobe for the cylinder being serviced is at base circle.
- Using the special tool, remove the camshaft roller followers.
- Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters.
- Using the special tool, remove the valve spring retainer keys, the valve spring and the retainer. Remove the valve.
- Repeat the procedure until all of the valves are removed.
- Remove and discard the valve seals.
- Remove the bolts in the sequence shown and remove the oil supply tube and the camshaft bearing caps.
- Remove the camshaft.
CAUTION:
Use care not to damage any valves when rotating the camshaft.
NOTE:
Mark each roller follower to make sure it is installed in its original position.
NOTE:
Mark each hydraulic lash adjuster to make sure it is installed in its original position.
NOTE:
Keep the valves, valve springs, retainers and retainer keys in order so they can be installed in their original positions.
NOTE:
Mark the position of the camshaft bearing caps so they can be installed in the original position.
