Stub Shaft Pilot Bearing and Seal: Removal

- Remove the halfshaft assembly. For additional information, refer to REAR DRIVE HALFSHAFTS .
- Using the special tools, remove the stub shaft pilot bearing and stub shaft pilot bearing oil seal.
- Firmly engage the tangs of the special tool on the stub shaft pilot bearing.
- Remove the stub shaft pilot bearing and stub shaft pilot bearing oil seal.
- Inspect the stub shaft pilot bearing oil seal journal for rust, nicks and scratches. Polish the seal journal surface with fine crocus cloth, if necessary.
NOTE:
If removing the stub shaft pilot bearing oil seal only, engage the tangs of the special tool on the stub shaft pilot bearing oil seal.
