Hub Bearings: Installation

- If removed, install disc brake shield. Disc brake shield is pressed on. Using the Pinion Bearing Cup Replacer (205-014, T60K-4616-A), Step Plate (205-239, T86P-1104-A3) and Step Plate (205-278, T88T-1175-C), install the wheel bearing into the wheel knuckle. See Fig 1 .
- Install the snap ring. Using a suitable tool, press the wheel hub into the wheel bearing. See Fig 2 . Install the wheel knuckle. Install the strut-to-wheel knuckle bolts and nuts. Tighten strut-to-wheel knuckle bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Using the Front Hub Replacer (205-D069, D93-1175A), insert the axle shaft into the wheel hub. See Figure . Position and align the ball joint stud into the wheel knuckle. Install the ball joint pinch bolt and nut into the wheel knuckle.
- On vehicles with ABS, install the anti-lock brake sensor and tighten the bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . On all vehicles, install the tie rod end into the wheel knuckle. Install the tie rod end nut and tighten to specification. Install a NEW cotter pin. Install the wheel hub nut and tighten to specification. Install the front brake rotor.
- Install the brake caliper anchor plate and bolts. Tighten brake caliper anchor plate bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the outboard brake pad. Install the brake caliper bolts and bolt caps. Tighten brake caliper bolts to specification. Install the brake caliper clip.
NOTE:
The Step Plate (205-278, T88T-1175-C) in Fig 1
, is not seen in place. It is located behind the wheel knuckle.
