WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Mercury Montego, 2005 Ford Freestyle, and 2005 Ford Five Hundred. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- A1 CHECK CIRCUIT 1715 (RD) FOR VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Measure the voltage between the ignition switch C250-4, circuit 1715 (RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to A2.
- A2
CHECK CIRCUIT 1715 (RD) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: BJB fuse 34 (30A).
- Measure the resistance between the ignition switch C250-4, circuit 1715 (RD), harness side and ground, and between the ignition switch C250-4, circuit 1715 (RD), harness side and BJB fuse 34 (30A), circuit 1715 (RD), output side.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms between the ignition switch and ground, and less than 5 ohms between the ignition switch and the BJB?
- Yes : INSTALL a new BJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
