PID/Data Monitor & Record

PID/Data Monitor and Record option allows technician using scan tool to read the state of several Parameter Identifications (PIDs) to aid in diagnosing the system.

PIDs are real time measurements of parameters, such as voltages, resistances, etc., calculated by the Restraints Control Module (RCM) and sent to scan tool for display. Many of the PIDs supported by the RCM are calculated periodically and are not true real time readings. To read PIDs, perform the following procedure:

Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under instrument panel near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Follow manufacturer's instructions for scan tool being used. PIDs are continuously updated on scan tool display.
