Test Z: Air Bag Warning Light Inoperative (DTC B1869): Description
The AIR BAG warning light is designed to illuminate for 6 seconds when ignition switch is turned to RUN position. The initial 6 seconds of illumination is considered normal operation of air bag system and is called prove out of AIR BAG warning light. AIR BAG warning light is then used to warn of faults in the air bag system by flashing a Light Flash Code (LFC).
Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors AIR BAG warning light circuit for open or short to ground at RCM connector C2041A, terminal No. 20 (Black/Yellow wire, circuit No. 608). If RCM detects an open or short to ground in circuit, it will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1869 in memory and, if other DTCs are present, send a signal to warning tone indicator to produce 5 sets of 5 tone bursts.
