Exterior Lighting: Headlamps
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Mercury Montego, 2005 Ford Freestyle, and 2005 Ford Five Hundred. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The smart junction box (SJB) must be configured before installing a new module. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION
.
The headlamps are controlled by the SJB. The headlamp and multifunction switches are hard-wired to the SJB and are constantly monitored. The SJB processes information (such as low beam, high beam or flash-to-pass requests) from these switches and outputs the appropriate command to the headlamps (which are also hard-wired to the SJB). Fault management of the headlamps provides some headlamp functionality. In the event of a headlamp switch failure, the exterior lamps are illuminated. There is also a headlamp battery saver feature. This feature turns off the headlamps 10 minutes after the ignition switch is turned OFF.
Autolamps and daytime running lamps (DRL) are 2 functions which may be configured in the SJB.
