Removal (3.8L)

  1. Rotate crankshaft until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC of compression stroke. Note position of CMP sensor electrical connector. Remove CMP sensor. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (3.8L, 4.2L & 5.0L) .
  2. NOTE: Oil pump driveshaft might come out with the camshaft synchronizer. If so, retrieve the oil pump driveshaft before proceeding.
  3. Remove the camshaft synchronizer bolt. Remove the camshaft synchronizer bolt.
CAUTION: DO NOT  rotate crankshaft while synchronizer is removed from engine.
