Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  4. CAUTION: Make sure that the block heater wiring is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components, or damage to the wiring may occur.
  5. Disconnect the block heater electrical connector and position aside.
  6. Remove the block heater.
    • To install, tighten to 21 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  8. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
