Removal and Installation

WARNING: All safety belt assemblies (including retractors, buckles, front seat belt buckle support assemblies [slide bar], shoulder belt height adjusters [if so equipped] child safety seat tether attachments and attaching hardware) should be inspected after any collision. New belt assemblies should be installed unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected and new components installed, if either damage or incorrect operation is noted.

All vehicles

Remove the rear seat backrest. For additional information, refer to Seat - Rear in the Removal and Installation portion of SEATING .
Remove the bolt and the D-ring.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
Remove the back of the cab panel insulator.
- Remove the pin-type retainers.
- Release the retaining clips and remove the panel insulator.

Vehicles without a detachable anchor buckle

NOTE: The LH safety belt buckle is attached to the safety belt and retractor assembly anchor.

Remove the nut and the center safety belt retractor anchor.
- To install, tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
All vehicles

NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.

Remove the bolt and the safety belt and retractor assembly.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
