Passenger-Side Air Bag Module: Removal

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Passenger-side air bag module is located in instrument panel above glove box. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- Remove 4 push pins or screws from CD changer cover, if equipped, or console compartment door. See Figure. Pull out ashtray/cup holder. Depress locking tabs and remove ashtray/cup holder assembly.
- Remove 2 center instrument panel finish panel retaining screws located in ashtray/cup holder opening. Pull out to release retaining clips and remove center instrument panel finish panel. Remove passenger's side inner instrument panel lower cover and disconnect footwell light connector.
- Open glove box. Remove 4 screws and 4 bolts retaining passenger-side instrument panel lower finish panel. Pull instrument panel lower finish panel with glove box out enough to access wire connectors. Disconnect glove box light. Separate passenger-side air bag module electrical connector from holder.
- Remove instrument panel lower finish panel with glove box. Disconnect passenger-side air bag module connector. Remove 4 passenger-side air bag module retaining nuts and remove air bag module. See Figure.
