Pinpoint Test G: Binding - Difficult Shift Lever Movement

- G1 CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL
- Key in OFF position.
- Inspect the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder reservoir.
- Is the fluid level within the MAX and MIN level marks?
- Yes : GO to G2.
- No : ADD brake fluid and CHECK for leaks.
- G2 CHECK TRANSMISSION SHIFTING - ENGINE OFF
- Key in OFF position.
- Depress clutch pedal.
- Shift transmission.
- Does transmission shift smoothly?
- Yes : VERIFY customer concern. GO to if necessary.
- No : GO to G3.
- G3 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION TOP COVER
- Remove the transmission. Refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION .
- Remove the transmission top cover. Refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION .
- Shift the top cover through all gears.
- Does the top cover shift smoothly?
- Yes : GO to G4.
- No : REPAIR or INSTALL a new top cover as necessary. REFER to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION .
- G4 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION INTERNAL COMPONENTS
- Visually inspect internal transmission components for indications of excessive wear or damage.
- Are there indications of internal damage or wear?
- Yes : REPAIR or INSTALL new internal components as necessary. REFER to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION .
- No : VERIFY customer concern.
