Removal & Installation (Mid-Tank)

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove stone shield retaining nuts and stone shield. Disconnect fuel tank solenoid valve. Place identification marks on fuel tank support straps and tank. Remove upper stone shield support strap. Install powertrain lift with tilting plate. Secure fuel tank with a nylon tie-down strap. Remove rear fuel tank support strap retaining nut. Remove the rear fuel tank support strap, and position aside. Remove front fuel tank support strap retaining bolts. Carefully lower and remove fuel tank from vehicle.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Align the identification marks on the fuel tank support straps and tank. Lubricate NEW "O" rings with 5W-30 engine oil. After installation is complete, natural gas fuel lines must be leak tested. Perform COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS LEAK TEST under FUEL SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - EEC-V - NGV article.
