When the headlamp switch is placed in PARK position or the headlamp ON position, voltage is supplied to the dimmer switch through circuit 14 (BN). The dimmer switch then send a variable voltage to the steering wheel control switch and backlighting system through circuit 19 (LB/RD). Ground is a common steering wheel switch ground, which is used in conjunction with the horn and vehicle speed control. Ground is supplied to the steering wheel control switch from the powertrain control module (PCM) through circuit 848 (DG/OG).
